Gender equity

“Men Can Cook,” developed by SCORE in 2018, and recently tested with funds from Global Affairs Canada’s FIT program, has been a flagship program for Gender Equity. In a groundbreaking approach, not only were men taught to cook but, by using cultural tools, women were empowered and allowed to influence extremely sensitive conversations among their husbands.  In 10 months, the end result was that not only was there a complete positive reversal of the involvement of men in the chores of the family but in addition, there were significant positive measurable outcomes in the areas of:

· multi-generational gender equity.

· family social/emotional well-being,

· family income generation and

· gender-based violence in the family and the community.
